Spinal Adjustments are quick, small, precise movements made by a chiropractor to your spine or other joints. The adjustments are made to restore joint motion to restricted joints.
Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are felt as tight bands in the muscles. They can be painful, restrict motion and cause other symptoms. Trigger point therapy is used to release these points in the muscles.
Dry needling is a technique used to relieve trigger points in muscles. Acupuncture needles are inserted into trigger points to stimulate release of the trigger point.
Used for spinal and extremity joints to restore movement and loosen tight tissues. The technique involves moving the joint through it's ranges of motion in all directions.
Specific exercises are used to lengthen tight muscles and strengthen weak muscles. These are often prescribed as "homework".
Nutrition & Lifestyle Advice
What we put into our bodies and what we put our bodies through on a daily basis is often the root cause of physical pain. This can range from bad habits, unhealthy foods and lack of nutrition to poor posture at work or doing an exercise incorrectly. Often lifestyle factors such as emotional stress can also play a role.
Seeing a chiropractor for the first time or seeing a chiropractor you have not seen before can be a daunting experience. Chiropractic differs from other professions and one chiropractor also differs from another chiropractor.
You might wonder if chiropractic is the solution for you. There are many stories out there of what chiropractors can treat and what they cannot treat (some accounts true and others not so much). All around the world, as well as in South Africa, the greatest efforts are made to conduct research in order to provide evidence-based proof of which conditions chiropractic can successfully manage and how they are best managed.
